A&D EK-6000i counting, underhook, RS-232 and battery features make the NTEP Class III balance useful beyond a simple transaction display. It can count heavier uniform parts, compare loads by percent, send data through standard serial communication, produce GLP-style identification records and support below-balance weighing with the EKW-07i underhook. Optional battery or comparator-relay hardware can tailor the workstation, with an important option conflict that buyers should plan around.

ACAI counting with 1 g minimum unit weight

MNM lists a maximum count of about 6,000 pieces, a 1 g minimum unit weight and sample sizes of 5, 10, 25, 50 or 100. ACAI refines the average unit weight as more pieces are added. This makes EK-6000i suited to bolts, fittings or components that are heavy enough for the 1 g unit threshold. For tiny electronics or fasteners below that threshold, use a finer counting balance rather than trying to stretch the trade model beyond its intended counting resolution.

Percent mode for formulation and comparison

Percent mode has a 100 g minimum 100% reference and 0.1% minimum display division. It can support batch ratios, material-change comparisons and acceptance checks when 1 g base readability is adequate. The stored reference should be stable and representative, and a percent result should not be confused with a separate legal-for-trade transaction requirement.

Underhook weighing

A&D lists EKW-07i underhook compatibility for EK-6000i. This enables suspended weighing, density/specific-gravity fixtures and loads that cannot sit conveniently on the pan. The hanging system must be mechanically free and safely supported. If underhook weighing is used in a legally regulated context, confirm the approved method/configuration with the relevant authority rather than assuming the standard top-pan transaction approval automatically covers every fixture.

Standard RS-232C and record capture

RS-232C can connect a computer, printer or logger for weight and count records. Validate baud/parity/data settings, unit and decimal placement, and the timing of stable data. GLP-style output can include balance identification and calibration-related information. These tools improve traceability when the surrounding software and procedure are also controlled.

Battery versus comparator relay

The EKW-09i rechargeable battery and EKW-04i comparator relay cannot be installed together. Choose the battery for a mobile weighing station or relay output for fixed automation/checkweighing. Current A&D family information cites roughly 250 hours of battery operation under stated conditions. Standard RS-232C remains available whichever internal option is selected.

Comparator and legal-for-trade use

HI/OK/LO comparator status can help an operator fill or sort quickly. In a commercial transaction, however, the actual approved weight display and applicable metrology rules control the sale. Comparator thresholds should be treated as process aids, not replacements for transaction interpretation or weights-and-measures requirements.
