A&D FC-1000i 2 lb / 1 kg Counting Scale Guide

A&D FC-1000i is a 2 lb / 1 kg counting scale with 0.1 g direct readability, one-million-count display capability, ACAI and 500 stored item IDs. Its fine-mode minimum unit weight is 0.001 g, but that number describes average piece-weight calculation—not a 0.001 g direct display. It is designed for inventory and production counting, not as a milligram laboratory balance.

Exact FC-1000i specifications

Capacity is 1 kg / 2 lb, direct resolution is 0.1 g / 0.0002 lb, normal minimum unit weight is 0.02 g and fine-mode minimum unit weight is 0.001 g. A&D lists repeatability at 0.1 g, non-linearity around ±0.1 g and a 1 kg ±0.02 g calibration-weight specification. Sample sizes include 10 pieces normally, plus 5, 25, 50, 100 or arbitrary settings.

Who benefits from 1 kg capacity

FC-1000i suits medium sample lots of screws, terminals, clips, seals, machined components and assembly hardware where FC-500i may be capacity-limited. The 1 kg range also leaves more space for heavier containers while maintaining better piece sensitivity than the larger 2 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg models.

ACAI and stored item data

ACAI refines average unit weight as additional pieces are added. Store stable unit weights, tare and item identifiers in the 500-ID memory for recurring jobs, but revalidate when part design, plating, moisture or supplier changes. A stored unit weight is only as current as the physical inventory it represents.

Interfaces and remote platform

RS-232C is standard, with expansion for more serial devices or comparator relay output. FC-05i supports a remote platform for bulk counts beyond the local scale’s capacity. This lets a warehouse determine unit weight on the more appropriate local scale and then use a larger platform for total quantity.

Calibration and legal-use boundary

Use the specified 1 kg reference for calibration and verify with known weights after adjustment. A&D’s current U.S. FC-i pages do not identify FC-1000i as an NTEP legal-for-trade model. It is best positioned for stockroom, kitting, receiving and internal production counts rather than regulated sale by weight.
