A&D FC-2000i is a 5 lb / 2 kg counting scale with 0.2 g direct readability and ACAI parts-counting technology. Its fine-mode minimum unit weight is 0.002 g, but that value is used to calculate average piece weight from a group of samples; the scale does not directly display individual 0.002 g mass increments. This makes FC-2000i useful for hardware, electrical parts, kitting and warehouse inventory that needs more capacity than the 500 g and 1 kg models.
Specifications that matter for counting
Capacity is 2 kg / 5 lb and direct resolution is 0.2 g / 0.0005 lb. A&D specifies 0.04 g minimum unit weight in normal counting mode and 0.002 g in fine mode, with a one-million-piece maximum count display. Repeatability is 0.2 g, non-linearity is approximately ±0.2 g, and calibration uses a 2 kg ±0.05 g reference. The large platform is about 300 × 280 mm, making it easier to work with bins and larger sample lots.
ACAI and sample-size strategy
ACAI continuously improves the average piece-weight estimate as more pieces are added. A 10-piece sample is the normal starting point, with 5, 25, 50, 100 or arbitrary sample sizes available. The smaller and more variable the piece, the more important it is to use a larger sample and validate against a known hand count.
500 item memories and comparator
Store up to 500 IDs with unit weight, tare, item code, accumulator and comparator information. This reduces setup time for recurring SKUs and lets a production or stockroom operator retrieve a known job quickly. Revalidate stored unit weights when a supplier, coating, revision or material batch changes individual piece mass.
RS-232C and remote scale
Bidirectional RS-232C is standard. FC-03i can add two more serial channels, FC-04i adds serial plus comparator relay output, and FC-05i connects a remote weighing platform. A&D states FC-03i and FC-04i cannot be installed together. A useful two-scale workflow establishes average piece weight on the local scale and then counts a much larger batch on a remote platform.
Calibration and legal-use boundary
Use the specified 2 kg reference for digital calibration, then verify independently. A&D’s current U.S. FC-i product pages present FC-2000i as an advanced counting scale and do not identify it as an NTEP legal-for-trade model. Use it for internal quantity determination, inventory and production—not as a substitute for a certified transaction scale where commercial law requires one.
