A&D FC-5000i fine mode reduces the minimum calculated average unit weight from 0.1 g in normal mode to 0.005 g while direct weighing readability remains 0.5 g. This is a counting function based on the combined weight of many pieces; it does not make the FC-5000i a 0.005 g balance.
Selecting normal or fine mode
Normal mode offers a stronger signal margin for routine parts. Fine mode helps with smaller pieces when a sufficiently large and representative sample can be weighed. If pieces vary significantly, larger samples and ACAI improve the estimate but cannot remove the physical variation in actual unit mass.
5 kg calibration
A&D specifies a 5 kg ±0.1 g calibration reference. Stabilize the scale, calibrate, then verify with another known mass. If weight verification succeeds but count is wrong, rebuild the average unit-weight sample before changing calibration again.
RS-232 and multi-device workflow
Standard bidirectional RS-232C supports a printer or computer. FC-03i adds two serial ports, while FC-04i adds one serial port plus comparator relay and cannot be combined with FC-03i. UFC output formatting helps align scale data with warehouse or production software.
Remote scale for higher capacity
FC-05i lets FC-5000i control a larger external scale. Use this when the 5 kg local platform is excellent for establishing unit weight but the total batch is tens or hundreds of kilograms. The remote platform’s resolution determines how small a piece can be counted reliably at the higher capacity, so validate the exact combination.
