A&D FS-15Ki calibration and comparator setup should be treated as two separate controls: external calibration establishes the weight relationship, while target/limit memories determine whether the scale labels a product HI, OK or LO. A good QA program verifies both. For legal-for-trade use in the U.S., A&D identifies FS-15KiF as the approved NTEP/MC configuration.
Calibration and multi-point verification
Level the scale, ensure the pan is mechanically free, stabilize temperature and use appropriate external reference weights. After calibration, test at representative process loads rather than only zero/full capacity. If the application uses tight limits around a 5–10 kg package, verify in that region with suitable known references.
Comparator setup and memory audit
FS-i supports upper/lower limit and target/tolerance comparison with tricolor lights, buzzer and analog sweep. Up to 100 settings can be stored. In a high-mix plant, assign a controlled product code/SOP to each memory and audit limits after recipe changes; a perfectly calibrated scale can still make the wrong pass/fail decision if the wrong memory is active.
Interfaces and automation
FS-03i provides RS-232C and comparator relay; FS-04i provides RS-422/485 and comparator relay. They are mutually exclusive. Relay output can drive external indicators or control logic when appropriately engineered. Serial output can feed printers/PCs, and A&D’s UFC functions help customize the data format.
IP65 service considerations
Maintain seals, cable glands and interface installation so the environmental design is not compromised. After cleaning, inspect for trapped residue or moisture and verify zero/known weight. A scale that passes static verification but changes during product movement may be responding to vibration or unstable loading rather than calibration drift.
FS-15KiF NTEP configuration
The U.S. A&D listing identifies FS-15KiF as legal for trade at 35 lb × 0.002 lb and also provides the corresponding metric/ounce modes for the certified product. The base global FS-15Ki supports selectable 1/2/5 g resolution, but users should not assume every selectable resolution is a legal trade interval. Order the approved F configuration and follow local sealing/inspection requirements for commercial use.
