A&D FX-1200iWP is a 1220 g × 0.01 g IP65 precision balance with external calibration, standard RS-232C, ACAI counting, statistics, comparator, underhook and animal-weighing capability. It is aimed at larger vessels and production samples than the 120/200/300-size milligram models. A&D lists the plain FX-1200iWP separately from FX-1200iWPN, the legal-for-trade IP65 configuration.
1220 g capacity and 0.01 g readability
Capacity is 1220 g and readability/repeatability are 0.01 g, with ±0.02 g linearity and approximately one-second stabilization. The pan is about 150 mm in diameter. Counting mode has 0.01 g minimum unit mass and percent mode uses a 1 g minimum 100% reference. This range is useful for medium beakers, ingredient bowls, packaged samples and fixtures that would overload the smaller 320 g models.
External calibration
A&D’s model data lists 1000 g as the principal external calibration value for the 1200-size balance. Calibrate only after leveling and environmental stabilization, then verify with an independent known weight. In production, a routine check-weight program can catch drift or damage sooner than waiting for a scheduled full calibration.
IP65 and wet production areas
The IP65 enclosure is useful near food production, wet QC and wash-adjacent sampling areas. A&D permits direct water cleaning but says not to immerse the balance or spray the underside. Use compatible cleaners, dry thoroughly and verify performance after substantial cleaning.
FXi-12 animal weighing pan compatibility
A&D specifically lists FXi-12 animal weighing pan compatibility for the 1200iWP, 2000iWP and 3000iWP sizes. Combined with animal averaging/hold, this supports small-animal and moving-sample work where the platform geometry fits. The balance still must not be overloaded, and any animal-use workflow should consider containment, cleaning and welfare requirements.
Interfaces and IP65 caveat
RS-232C is standard. FXi-02 USB, FXi-08 Ethernet and FXi-09 battery are mutually exclusive and remove IP65 compliance when installed. For a wet-area data station, preserve IP65 with the specified waterproof RS-232C cable and keep any PC/printer positioned appropriately for the environment.
FX-1200iWP vs FX-1200iWPN
The plain FX-1200iWP is the standard IP65 process balance. FX-1200iWPN is the separate legal-for-trade IP65 version in A&D’s current U.S. lineup. If the scale will determine customer price, select the WPN configuration and follow applicable legal placement-in-service requirements instead of assuming the process model can be converted after purchase.
