A&D FX-3000iWP calibration is external, with 3000 g, 2000 g and 1000 g reference values listed for the model. On a 3.2 kg precision balance, good maintenance goes beyond a single CAL point: use controlled multi-point verification, inspect the wet-area mechanical setup, validate animal-pan or underhook fixtures and preserve IP65 through correct cable/interface selection.

Calibration and multi-point verification

Level the balance and stabilize temperature before calibration. Use an appropriate 3000 g, 2000 g or 1000 g reference. After CAL, test an independent known mass and consider low/mid/high verification across the range. If error changes with load, a single full-scale adjustment may not resolve the problem; service may be required.

Repeatability and mechanical interference

A&D lists 0.01 g repeatability and ±0.02 g linearity. Large containers and fixtures create more opportunity for side contact than on smaller balances. If the same test weight changes depending on pan position or container placement, inspect mechanical contact and leveling rather than immediately recalibrating.

IP65 cleaning and drying

Use IP65 for easier removal of dust and spills, but never immerse the unit or direct jets from underneath. Dry all weighing components and let the scale stabilize before verifying. Residue beneath the pan can cause zero-return or repeatability problems that resemble electronic drift.

Animal pan and underhook checks

FXi-12 is compatible with FX-3000iWP. Underhook is also available for suspended/density applications. Verify any fixture in its actual installed state, ensure nothing rubs against the housing or bench and include all accessory mass in gross-capacity planning.

Connectivity and environmental rating

Standard RS-232C with the waterproof A&D cable is the preferred route when IP65 and data output must coexist. Internal Quick USB, Ethernet and battery options are mutually exclusive and remove IP65 compliance. Connected peripherals need their own environmental protection; the balance rating does not cover them.

FX-3000iWP versus FX-3000iWPN

The plain FX-3000iWP is the standard high-resolution process model. FX-3000iWPN is the separate legal-for-trade IP65 model. A&D identifies the WPN as NTEP Class II and Measurement Canada Class II. Purchase the approved model for regulated trade; calibration cannot confer type approval on the plain WP.
