A&D GF-3000 Precision Balance: 3.1 kg × 0.01 g from Cypress

3 min read

A jeweler who buys a 4000 g compact because it is cheaper still has a 0.1 g digit when the melt needs 0.01 g. The GSC slug All Scales USA actually sells for that job is the A&D GF-3000 — 3100 g × 0.01 g, $1,249, Cypress stock. Five clicks already land on a-d-gf-3000-gf-series-precision-balance. Clone URLs exist. This post is that slug only.

3.1 kg × 0.01 g vs a compact

The compact we put next to this carton on the Cypress bench is the A&D EK-4100i Everest — 4000 g × 0.1 g, $493. More capacity, ten times coarser. Maker page: A&D EK-4100i. If you are batching a 2 kg melt, pouring gold grain, or counting parts that need 0.01 g, the compact is the wrong digit. If you are portioning 3 kg of resin and 0.1 g is enough, do not spend $1,249.

The GF-3000 pan is 165 × 165 mm stainless. External calibration. VFD. RS-232 is standard. USB is GX-02 — optional, not in this carton. Glass breeze break is GX-11 — also optional. Dust cover and AC adapter are in the box. Repeatability 0.01 g, linearity ±0.02 g on the live page.

NTEP is a different SKU

This Cypress carton is not NTEP. The legal-for-trade sibling in the GX/GF family is GF-3000N. A&D’s current page for that 3100 g × 0.01 g Class II body is GF-3000N. Do not read that CoC onto the GF-3000 we have on the shelf. If a Houston counter is selling by weight, stop and call (832) 766-5410. Start with NTEP in Texas and NTEP legal-for-trade. Jewelry Class II on a Scout is a different post: Ohaus SJX1502N/E.

What we sell this 3.1 kg for from Cypress

The call we get at 21249 FM 529 Rd is usually one of three.

  • Jewelry melt / grain / scrap lots that overflow a 300 g pan but still need 0.01 g.

  • Lab batching and formulation under 3.1 kg where a compact 0.1 g will not hold a spec.

  • Counting of mid-size parts where 0.01 g piece weight is the difference between a good count and a short box.

It is not a pharmacy GF-P. It is not an analytical 0.1 mg. Leaves: lab and analytical and A&D Weighing. Compact buyer guide: compact digital bench scale.

What we check before it leaves FM 529

External cal means you need a 3 kg class mass you trust, or you bring it back. We do not ship a certified 3 kg in this carton. If you want us to put a known mass on it before the truck, say so — that is a Cypress bench conversation, written here: Houston calibration call. Service page: scale calibration Houston. We do not claim ISO 17025 or A2LA. We do not do truck scales.

Clone slugs and what we will not mix

The catalog has more than one GF-3000 URL. Prices on those clones have ranged around this $1,249 GSC carton. If a search lands you on a $1,219 or $1,489 twin, call (832) 766-5410 and we will put you on one live carton. We will not write a second GF-3000 post for a clone slug.

Jewelry melt is the call we get most. A 300 g pan overflows. A 0.1 g compact lies about dwt. The 165 mm pan and 0.01 g digit are why this body sits on the Cypress jewelry bench next to a Class II Scout, not instead of it. Lab batching under 3 kg is the second call — buffers, resins, sample prep that a portion compact will not hold. Counting is the third, and only when the piece weight needs 0.01 g.

External cal is not optional theater. If you do not have a 3 kg mass, say so on the call. We can put a known mass on it in the shop. We will not print Texan-certified on a process check. If a weight comes up, we say Texan-tested. A certified trade mass is a different conversation and a different page.

A&D on this site lives at /a-and-d. Lab bodies live at /lab-analytical. Sister catalog: ek1200i.

FAQ

Is this the Apollo GF-3002A?

No. The live name is GF-3000. Apollo GF-3002A is a later 3200 g body. If a quote says Apollo, call before you pay.

Do I need the glass breeze break?

GX-11 is optional. A 3.1 kg toploader in a still room often runs without it. A vent that blows across the pan is a different answer.
