A&D HT-5000 calibration uses an external weight, while reliable kilogram-range operation also depends on a rigid work surface and a container that fits the compact 132 × 130 mm pan without touching anything else. Verification after travel is essential because the included case does not guarantee unchanged measurement conditions.

External calibration and verification
Place the scale on a rigid level bench and let it acclimate. Follow A&D’s external-calibration procedure with an appropriate calibrated reference. Verify zero and a separate working-range mass after adjustment. Since the scale can operate across several kilograms, test more than one representative point when the application spans the range.
Container contact and compact-pan setup
Ensure bowls or packages sit fully on the pan and do not touch the case, bench, wall or display. Contact supports part of the load outside the sensor and usually produces a low reading. A load can be below 5100 g yet unsafe or inaccurate because its footprint is too large. Use a larger platform scale when necessary.
Batteries and storage
Replace all four AA batteries together and remove them during extended storage. Clean and dry the scale before placing it in the case. Do not stack loose heavy accessories against the pan. The optional adapter supports fixed operation; use only the correct supply and keep the scale in a dry environment.
Troubleshooting
Drift often comes from table flex, vibration, airflow, temperature change or container contact. Poor zero return may indicate debris or pan binding. An overload warning requires immediate removal of the load. If known weights remain wrong after stabilization, recalibrate or arrange service. The optional stainless pan does not make the unit washable.
