A&D SK-1000WP cleaning and calibration require attention to the exact power configuration: the battery-powered scale is IP65, but A&D states the SK-WP series is not IP65-compliant when the AC adapter is connected. Disconnect and protect the adapter before wet cleaning, then verify the scale after it dries.

IP65 cleaning procedure
Power off, disconnect the AC adapter if present and keep the adapter/plug dry. Remove loose product and clean the stainless pan and housing using compatible methods. Water jets may be used within IP65 limits, but do not immerse the scale or direct extreme pressure into seals and openings. Dry thoroughly, inspect beneath the pan and confirm the battery compartment is closed correctly.
External calibration and verification
Place the dry scale on a stable level surface and allow it to acclimate. Use an appropriate calibrated reference and follow the A&D external-calibration sequence. After adjustment, confirm zero and test an independent known weight. For commercial WPF configurations, protect required seals and use qualified service according to local weights-and-measures rules.
Post-clean and daily checks
Check zero return, repeat a known load and inspect different pan positions when the process uses off-center containers. Residue beneath the pan, trapped moisture or a container touching the body can produce error. Verification should occur after heavy cleaning, impact, relocation or unusual exposure—not only on a calendar schedule.
Battery and adapter diagnosis
Replace all six D batteries as a set and observe polarity. If the scale works on batteries but not the adapter, inspect the specified power supply and outlet. If it works on the adapter but not batteries, inspect contacts and battery orientation. Remember that operating successfully on the adapter does not restore IP65 compliance.
WPF approval verification
For legal-for-trade use, inspect the actual model plate for the SK-1000WPF configuration and the applicable approval markings. A retailer’s shortened SK-1000WP title is not enough to establish the delivered instrument’s status. Calibration, sealing and inspection cannot turn a non-approved model into an approved one.

Should calibration follow every wash? Verify first; calibrate only if needed. What causes zero drift after cleaning? Moisture, residue, pan contact or unstable conditions.
