Washdown Bench vs Dry Bench: What Cypress Shops Hose Down

A Houston kitchen that hoses a painted compact every night is buying a new board every year. A dry receiving bench that never sees a drop does not need IP65. All Scales USA in Cypress sells both. This is the chooser — not another SK-WP spec reprint. The leaf is washdown scales (141 live SKUs).

The compact washdown we actually have in stock for a portion line is the A&D SK-5000WP — 11 lb × 0.005 lb, $314.99. Twenty on the shelf as of this write. IP65, NSF listed, 9.1 × 7.5 in stainless curved pan. Confirm an F-suffix carton (SK-5000WPF) before legal-for-trade use. Class III CC 98-086A2 on that F body. Does a hose, a splash, or a wipe-down hit the scale every shift? Hose = washdown. Wipe = a dry bench with a cover often wins.
Food / protein / chemical? Start on food, washdown & NTEP and the stainless bodies.
Sale by weight in Texas? You need NTEP and a place-in-service, not just a stainless pan. NTEP in Texas and NTEP legal-for-trade.
Portion under 11 lb, or a 150 lb receiving bench? Compact SK-WP vs an HW/HV column bench.

HW-C process vs HV-C / HV-CP NTEP

Same 13.0 × 16.7 in pan family. Different legal story. Maker family: A&D HV-C/CP and HW-C/CP. Full stainless washdown heads sit on the HV-CWP / HW-CWP page — IP65 even with the comms options.

HW-C is the high-resolution single-range process bench. Live example: A&D HW-60KC — 150 lb × 0.01 lb, $859.23. IP65 base. Not NTEP on this carton. Use it when 0.01 lb at 150 lb matters and you are not selling by weight.
HV-C is the triple-range NTEP bench. Live example: A&D HV-60KC — 30/60/150 lb, $694. CC 17-099A2. 0.01/0.02/0.05 lb steps.

A painted dry compact for a back office is still a real sale. That buyer post is compact digital bench scale and the leaf is bench scales. Do not hose it.

What we will not pretend

IP65 on the base is not a license to flood the AC brick. SK-WP optional adapters are not waterproof. We do not claim ISO 17025 or A2LA. We do not do truck, pit, axle, or weighbridge work. A floor pad with a ramp is a different post: industrial floor scale with a ramp.

A stainless NTEP receiving bench is a third path

If the job is 150 lb of protein on a hose-down table and you are selling by weight, a compact 11 lb SK-WP is the wrong capacity. The stainless NTEP bench we already wrote around for Houston food rooms is the Cardinal EB-150-190 — 150 lb × 0.05 lb, $1,653, CC 03-031. That is a washdown receiving bench, not a portion compact. Do not hose a painted dry bench and hope the overlay survives. The dry compact buyer post is already live. This chooser exists because washdown bench as a type was leaking impressions onto SK-WP reprints.

SK-5001WP is the grams-only sibling — 5000 g × 1 g, not the trade F-suffix. We stock it. We will not tell a Texas counter it is legal for trade. IP65 on an HV-C base is the pan and the column foot, not a promise you can drown the optional comms brick. CWP is the full stainless washdown head. If the kitchen inspector wants the whole indicator hosed, say CWP on the call. Cypress will not upsell CWP onto a dry bakery that only wipes flour.

A floor scale with a ramp is not a bench. If the drum will not lift onto 16.7 in, stop. That is the floor post, not this one. We do not do truck scales, pit scales, axle scales, or weighbridges.
