A&D EK-2000i counting, percent, RS-232 and battery functions let one compact balance serve inventory, formulation, checkweighing and data-capture workflows. Standard bidirectional RS-232C, ACAI counting, 0.1% percent mode, HI/OK/LO comparator logic and optional portable battery power are all supported. The functions are process tools and do not change EK-2000i’s definitive non-NTEP status.
Counting mode details
EK-2000i supports up to about 20,000 displayed pieces when capacity allows, with a 0.1 g minimum unit weight and samples of 5, 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces. ACAI improves the average unit weight as more pieces are added. Larger samples improve confidence when parts are light or variable. Before relying on a large count, place a known hand-counted quantity on the scale and confirm that the method returns the correct count.
Percent mode
Percent weighing stores a reference as 100% and displays future loads relative to that mass. EK-2000i’s minimum 100% reference is 10 g and the minimum percent division is 0.1%. This is useful for mixing ratios, drying or loss/gain comparisons, and deviation checks. If the reference changes because of evaporation, contamination or a different container, re-establish it before interpreting the result.
Comparator and optional relay
The built-in comparator produces HI/OK/LO status for fill checks, sorting and go/no-go inspection. EKW-04i can add relay/buzzer output to drive external indicators or simple process logic. Validate the thresholds with known loads before production. A relay output is not a safety-rated machinery control and should not be treated as one in hazardous motion applications.
Standard RS-232C and GLP records
RS-232C can output weight/count data and supports compatible commands for zero, mode and data output. GLP-style output can include balance ID and calibration-related information. Use these tools to reduce transcription, but validate the record format and software path. A quality-system printout is evidence only when the instrument ID, unit, time, calibration status and procedure are all controlled.
Rechargeable battery and option conflict
A&D’s current U.S. family page advertises roughly 250 hours of battery operation with the optional rechargeable pack. EKW-09i battery hardware and EKW-04i comparator relay cannot be installed together. A mobile cycle-count station may favor the battery; a fixed production checkweigher may favor relay output. Standard RS-232C remains available for data either way.
No underhook on EK-2000i
A&D’s current accessory list reserves EKW-07i underhook use for EK-4100i, EK-6100i, EK-6000i, EK-12Ki and EW-12Ki. EK-2000i is not in that list. If below-balance density or suspended weighing is essential, choose a supported model before designing the fixture.
