A&D EK-2000i for parts, formulation, kitting and packaging gives production teams a 2,000 g × 0.1 g workbench balance with standard serial data, ACAI counting, percent and comparator functions. It is intentionally a non-NTEP process balance, which makes it appropriate for internal inventory and quality decisions but not the legal transaction scale when customer price is set directly from the displayed weight.
Small-parts counting and inventory
Fasteners, fittings, electronic components and hardware can be counted from average unit weight rather than one by one. Sample 5, 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces, with larger samples preferred for lighter or less uniform parts. ACAI then refines average unit weight as more pieces are added. Validate a known hand count before using the scale for a large ERP adjustment, because lot-to-lot variation in part weight can create more error than the balance itself.
Kitting and assembly control
For a kit that requires a fixed quantity of identical parts, tare the container, establish or recall a validated average piece weight, and count the parts into the bin. The 2 kg range handles many completed kits while preserving 0.1 g visibility. Mixed parts cannot be distinguished from weight alone, so count each homogeneous item separately or use another identification method for mixed assemblies.
Formulation and batching
For gram-scale formulations, tare the vessel and add each component against a written target. Percent mode can compare a sample against a stored 100% reference of at least 10 g. If an ingredient target is below the practical capability of 0.1 g readability, use a finer balance for that ingredient rather than estimating between digits. The EK-2000i can then handle the heavier remainder of the batch.
Packaging and pass/fail checks
Program comparator limits from the real product tolerance and use HI/OK/LO as a rapid operator decision. A package that is too light may indicate a missing part; one that is too heavy may contain duplicates or excess fill. If the same package is subject to regulated net-content rules, determine which certified weighing step controls the compliance measurement instead of assuming a non-NTEP internal check is automatically the official legal test.
Incoming inspection and supplier checks
Known expected weight ranges can screen incoming assemblies, bags of components or raw material samples. Use documented check weights to verify the station before critical inspection, and investigate a discrepancy before rejecting a lot. Packaging, oil, moisture or coatings can change total mass. The balance gives precise evidence, but the inspection method still has to distinguish real product variation from container or environmental effects.
RS-232C for records and automation
Use the standard serial port to capture weights or counts in a PC, printer or logger and reduce manual transcription. Test the complete data path with known values, lock down units and decimal placement, and define when a reading is accepted. If the local display is correct but stored data is wrong, troubleshoot the interface separately from calibration.
Choosing a different balance
Choose EK-300i or another 0.01 g model for smaller, finer work. Choose EK-3000i or EK-6100i for higher-capacity non-trade work. Choose EK-6000i or EK-12Ki when an explicitly NTEP model matches the needed range, recognizing that their trade readabilities are coarser. Choose an FC-i counting scale when inventory counting is the primary job and SKU memories/remote scale functions matter more than precision-balance versatility.
Frequently asked questions
Is EK-2000i good for fasteners and parts? Yes. Can it count parts automatically? Yes, with ACAI. Is it legal for trade? No. Can it handle formulation? Yes when 0.1 g readability fits the ingredient targets. Does it have pass/fail comparison? Yes, HI/OK/LO. Does it send data to a PC? Yes through standard RS-232C. Can it replace a 0.01 g balance for tiny ingredients? No. Which higher-capacity model keeps 0.1 g readability? EK-6100i provides 6,000 g × 0.1 g but is also non-NTEP.
