A&D EW-1500i 300/600/1500 g NTEP Class III triple-range balance is a compact legal-for-trade model that automatically changes its verification/display interval as load increases. Current CoC 04-019A3 lists the EW-1500i multi-interval configuration at 300 g × 0.1 g, 600 g × 0.2 g and 1,500 g × 0.5 g, all Class III with nmax 3,000 in each interval. The certificate also allows a 1,500 g × 0.5 g single-range configuration. Standard RS-232C, percent, comparator and ACAI counting make the hardware versatile, but the NTEP certificate explicitly states that the counting feature is not legal for trade—so piece-count mode must be treated as an internal process function even on a certified scale.
Exact Class III trade ranges from CoC 04-019A3
In multi-interval mode, EW-1500i is certified at 0–300 g with 0.1 g division, above 300 g through 600 g with 0.2 g division, and above 600 g through 1,500 g with 0.5 g division. The certificate table gives nmax 3,000 for the intervals and Class III status. This exact range information is more useful to a buyer than the phrase “triple range” because it shows what resolution is actually available at the weight being sold or checked.
Single-range configuration is also in the certificate
CoC 04-019A3 also lists EW-1500i as a 1,500 g capacity, 0.5 g division Class III scale. A&D notes that EW-series models may be configured as multi-interval or single-range devices. The exact configuration on the delivered/sealed unit matters for commercial use. Do not assume that every EW-1500i in service is automatically configured the same way simply because the chassis and model name match.
Counting is not legal for trade
The certificate explicitly states that the counting feature is not legal for trade. That means ACAI piece counting can be excellent for internal inventory and kitting, but a customer transaction cannot rely on the calculated piece count as the NTEP-approved function. The certified function is weighing under the approved configuration. Separate internal counting records from legal transaction weight records in the business procedure.
Important “Not for Direct Sales” marking condition
CoC 04-019A3 says devices manufactured after the certificate date with the combined “0/T” zero/tare key must be marked adjacent to the display with “Not for Direct Sales.” Therefore, a buyer should inspect the exact unit’s key layout and markings rather than interpreting NTEP type approval as permission for every direct-sales setup. The certificate, device marking and local weights-and-measures rules all matter together.
MNM specifications and platform details
MNM lists the same 300/600/1,500 g capacities with 0.1/0.2/0.5 g readability, a 133 × 170 mm pan, 10 display updates per second and a 1,500 g default calibration mass. Repeatability is 0.1/0.2/0.5 g and linearity ±0.1/±0.2/±0.5 g across the corresponding ranges. The balance uses an AC adapter or optional rechargeable battery and includes standard RS-232C.
Commercial calibration and verification
For internal work, external calibration can follow the A&D procedure using a suitable known reference; MNM lists 1,500 g as the default calibration mass. For a scale already placed into commercial service, preserve the Category 1 physical seal described by the certificate and use known-weight verification without casually opening protected calibration access. If adjustment is required, use qualified service and follow local resealing or reinspection requirements.
